Frequently Asked Questions
How do I install Teachertools?
Go to Teachertools on the Chrome Web Store and click Add to Chrome.
Click Accept on the permissions dialog.
You will now see the Teachertools icon in your Chrome extensions bar (or click the puzzle piece if you do not see it)
Teachertools will automatically run when you log in to your Frontline SIS gradebook. Go your class section gradebook and you should see the Teachertools buttons at the top.
What school districts are supported?

The non-numeric grade values for "Missing", "Excused" and "Incomplete" may need to be customized for your district. Contact us at support@teachertools.me if you need those values adjusted.
How does Teachertools remove emojis?
See the detailed explanation of emojis here.
Can I use the same export file for multiple Frontline SIS class sections?
Yes, as long as that export file contains the students in that Frontline SIS class section. A common example of this is with Canvas, where a single export file will have all students from every section (if you teach multiple sections of the same course). You can use the same file for every section since the export contains all of your students. Teachertools looks up students by their local ID number and will only import students from the section of Frontline SIS you have open.
How does Teachertools handle decimals?
In all districts other than Arlington ISD:
Teachertools will round all decimal grade values to the nearest 0.1 for all numbers above 1.
When the number is between 0 and 1, Teachertools will round the grade to the closest value, either 0 or 1, because Frontline SIS does not support decimals less than 1.
In Arlington ISD, Teachertools will round every decimal value to the nearest whole number. This is because the version of Frontline SIS used in Arlington does not support decimals. This was updated in Teachertools version 0.3.3.2.
Why does Teachertools need Chrome permissions to “Read and change your data on number of websites”?
In order for Teachertools to add buttons to the gradebook and enter grades on your behalf it must be granted permission to modify the Frontline SIS website for every supported school district.
What does the “Do not import blank cells” option mean?
If you have not manually entered grades for an assignment in Frontline SIS this option does not have any effect.
This option is only relevant if you manually entered grades in Frontline SIS for an assignment. The most likely scenario for this is marking student grades as “MSG” (Missing) or “I” (Incomplete) in Frontline SIS.
In this situation, if your spreadsheet file has a blank grade value for that assignment, it would overwrite the “MSG” or “I” with a blank. Most teachers would prefer the manually entered value to remain, so they keep “Do not import blank cells” checked.
Uncheck this option if you would like manually entered grades to be overwritten by corresponding blank values in the spreadsheet.
Why does Teachertools import 0s instead of Excused from Google Classroom?
Google Classroom added a new feature which automatically assigns a grade of 0 to all past-due submissions. Even if you mark these assignments as ‘excused’ in Google Classroom, they will be still exported as a 0 and Teachertools will assume this is the correct grade.
To mitigate this, you can disable this new feature by going to your Google Class Settings (by clicking the gear in the top right of your class view) and turning off the Draft grade feature.
Can Teachertools make Frontline SIS assignments automatically?
No, at this point teachers need to manually create assignments in Frontline SIS in order to import grades using Teachertools.
